My Day in Chapel Hill Part III (videos)

Dick Baddour is the former Athletic Director of the Unversity of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Baddour retired in the wake of the UNC football scandal, that cost Butch Davis his job. If you look at the numbers Baddour did a great job. While, Baddour was the AD, UNC won 13 National Championships as a program. Baddour had some great moments as AD, like when he convinced Roy Williams to come home to UNC. Many applauded his desicion to hire Butch Davis as the football coach. Now the Davis hire doesn't seem like the right move, but at the time it brought a seriousness to UNC's football program it had not had since the Mack Brown era. Here is a video of Dick Baddour receiving an award at halftime of the Boston College game, January 7th. Roy Williams presented Baddour to the crowd and said some really nice things. It seems they had a great relationship. Click the video below and see the award presentation.

My Day in Chapel Hill Part II (videos)

Here are the videos from my day at the Dean Dome. UNC has everything you will want to see at a basketball game. Now, if the Tar Heels can just figure out away to beat Duke! All these videos are from the UNC vs. Boston College game, January 7th.

All-American Harrison Barnes and the rest of the Heels warming up before the game.

Roy Williams coming out onto the court, to the cheers of the UNC's students and faithful.

The Tar Heels in the lay-up lines before the game.

UNC's Harrison Barnes and James Michael McAdoo passing out some pounds to the the UNC staff. You can also hear sercurity giving me a hard time about being so close to the court and not being in my seat!

The Tar Heel players standing around the court for the National Anthem. Look at all the Carolina blue!!!

UNC's Long-armed John Henson winning the jump ball. Tyler Zeller missing the little jump hook.

P.J. Hairston knocking down the three-pointer from the corner! Dexter Strickland gets the easy assist.

Kendall Marshall gets one of his many assists this year. Harrison Barnes hits a three, what a pure stroke he has!

Kendall Marshall finds Tyler Zeller for the little turn around half hook in the lane. These two can make the game look very easy at times. Kendall Marshall is one of the best passers in UNC's history and the nation this year. Marshall is 2nd in nation in assists this year with almost 10 a game.

Harrison Barnes playing good defense on one end of the court and throwing down the monster slam on the other end! The crowd goes crazy!

Roy Williams fired up on the side line, he is not happy about something!

The Tar Heels running into the locker room at half-time.

The Rivalry!!! Duke vs. North Carolina Basketball

*
Click on the link and check it out!!!
*
This is "Middle Class" Matt Nicholson coming at you from the Mecca of basketball, the Triangle area in North Carolina. Here is preview and prediction of the Duke vs. UNC rivalry game on Wednesday, February 8 (9:00 PM ET ESPN). This should be another exciting chapter in this great rivalry, between these two traditional college basketball powers. I predicted the Tar Heels to win, but it should a close game and another good one, even if ESPN isn't hyping up and selling this rivalry as much as they used to.

My Day in Chapel Hill Part I(Pictures)

GO HEELS!
*
I had some footage laying around from the January 7 UNC vs. Boston College game and I figured I write an entry about it. Chapel Hill is a special place to watch a basketball game. The Smith Center may not be a the loudest venue in America, but it could be the most magical. You see all the big names of the greats hanging in rafters and on this day I saw a lot of big names on and around the court. Their is Carolina blue everywhere and the fans are such a classy, educated bunch of basketball people. UNC has been criticised in the past for being a passive, fair-weather bunch and some of that maybe warranted, but at the same time the Dean Dome is a place the whole family can enjoy the tradition and excellence of basketball on the highest level in nation.

NBA Baller Brandon Jennings Shows up at the NC Pro Am!!!

Brandon Jennings on the court at the NC Pro Am

Milwaukee Buck's star Brandon Jennings played with Austin Rivers at the North Carolina Pro Am Thursday night, August 4th. At 21 years old Jennings is about the age of most of the college players at the Pro Am. Yet, talent advantage he has over most of the college guys was clear. No one on the court could keep Jennings in check(see videos below). Jennings' young NBA career has already produced a 50 point game, so the Pro Am competition was no problem. Jennings looks very small on the court. Jennings seems to be a little taller than 6 feet and weighs about 165, but his elite quickness made him impossible to guard.

Austin Rivers' confidence was visibly shaken at the Pro Am. He never regained his composure that night. Watch the video below for the details.

Incoming Duke freshman Michael Gbinije trying to console his teammate Austin Rivers on the bench.

There was another site who posted a story about incoming Duke freshman Austin Rivers at the NC Pro Am and their heading was "Austin Rivers and Ryan Kelly put on a show at NC Pro Am." Both Rivers and Kelly have played well, but Wednesday night belonged to North Carolina Central's Dominique Sutton. Rivers showed up at the game late and as soon as he checked in the game, Sutton was all over him. The crowd went crazy and the small gym became thick with intensity. Rivers recovered and knocked down the shot, but then lost his temper and two hand shoved Sutton. After this altercation River hit a few shots, but never regained his composure. Most would say this was a "freshman" mistake.

Rivers and Sutton still going at it! The whole team has to get involved. It was a heated summer night at the Pro Am!

Rivers was really frustrated by the incident. Here he is explaining himself to the referee and trying to get past the altercation with Sutton.

Sutton drives by Rivers and dunks and Sutton gets the "and one."

Still, Rivers had his moments. Rivers gets the better of Sutton on the other end.

Sutton manning up on Rivers.

Sutton's team destroyed Rivers' team that night! Even though Sutton's team was at a disadvantage when it came to talent. Rivers played with his Duke teammate Miles Plumlee, but they could not stop Sutton and his teammates from running all over them!
