The Rivalry! UNC vs. Duke Part II The Rematch!!!

Hang On! It's Do or Die Time!!!

The last Duke vs. UNC game was a classic! The Tar Heels allowed the Devils to steal one in Chapel Hill by not taking advantage of easy opportunites during the last few minutes of the game. What also helped Duke was the referees swallowing their whistles, and this is not just UNC fan bias, Doug Gottlieb pointed out the missed calls on ESPN today! Check out my preview of the No. 6 UNC vs. No. 4 Duke rematch, should be another good one!

My Day in Chapel Hill Part III (videos)

Dick Baddour is the former Athletic Director of the Unversity of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Baddour retired in the wake of the UNC football scandal, that cost Butch Davis his job. If you look at the numbers Baddour did a great job. While, Baddour was the AD, UNC won 13 National Championships as a program. Baddour had some great moments as AD, like when he convinced Roy Williams to come home to UNC. Many applauded his desicion to hire Butch Davis as the football coach. Now the Davis hire doesn't seem like the right move, but at the time it brought a seriousness to UNC's football program it had not had since the Mack Brown era. Here is a video of Dick Baddour receiving an award at halftime of the Boston College game, January 7th. Roy Williams presented Baddour to the crowd and said some really nice things. It seems they had a great relationship. Click the video below and see the award presentation.

Go Heels!

Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller, and Kendall Marshall

This is "Middle Class" Matt Nicholson coming at you from the Mecca of basketball, the Triangle area in North Carolina. Here is preview and prediction of the Duke vs. UNC rivalry game on Wednesday, February 8 (9:00 PM ET ESPN). This should be another exciting chapter in this great rivalry, between these two traditional college basketball powers. I predicted the Tar Heels to win, but it should a close game and another good one, even if ESPN isn't hyping up and selling this rivalry as much as they used to.

My Day in Chapel Hill Part I(Pictures)

GO HEELS!
*
I had some footage laying around from the January 7 UNC vs. Boston College game and I figured I write an entry about it. Chapel Hill is a special place to watch a basketball game. The Smith Center may not be a the loudest venue in America, but it could be the most magical. You see all the big names of the greats hanging in rafters and on this day I saw a lot of big names on and around the court. Their is Carolina blue everywhere and the fans are such a classy, educated bunch of basketball people. UNC has been criticised in the past for being a passive, fair-weather bunch and some of that maybe warranted, but at the same time the Dean Dome is a place the whole family can enjoy the tradition and excellence of basketball on the highest level in nation.

The beautiful girls on the dance team in the crowd. It seems like one guy is trying to say hey.

John Wall Part II and videos of others at the NC Pro Am!

UNC's John Henson with the pretty post move. Washington Wizard's point guard John Wall took a lot of shots and missed most of them. Wall hogged the ball all night. Wall never took advantage of his teammate John Henson's height advantage inside. Henson was 4 inches taller than anyone on court and a whole lot longer than the other players. Yet, this was one of the few post passes that ever went inside to Henson.

NC Central star Dominique Sutton flying right by John Wall for the layup. Sutton outplayed John Wall all game. Sutton stepped up and played big all tournament. Sutton should have a huge season this year, and help Central make their leap in Division I this year. Dominique Sutton was named co-MVP along with NBA veteran Rasheed Wallace. Considering the big names who were at the NC Pro Am, Sutton really showed he was a big time player.

Dominique Sutton's great play continues. He blocks the shot with ferocity. Sutton played the entire Pro Am with this kind of intensity and effort.

John Wall did not play well the entire game. Wall must of thought since he was a big time NBA name that Sutton and team would roll over for him. Sutton was not impressed by this former #1 NBA overall pick. P.J. Hairston snatches down the board and throws down the two-hand power jam!

John Wall tries to steal the ball and pleads his case to the refs. Wall was unfocused all game.

UNC's P.J. Hairston with the strong move to the cup. Hairston looks like he can immediately help the Tar Heels with their title run this year.

P.J. Hariston throwing the alley-opp to John Wall for the ridiculous jam!

Dominique Sutton steals the ball from John Wall and then leads the break which leads to the bucket.

John Wall with the incredible spin move in the lane. Wall can't finish, but it brings the crowd to its feet as you can see.

John Wall knocking down the the jump, as he tries to take his team on his back.

John Wall puts the 3 ball in every one's eye and let's everybody know about it!

Wall did lots of this stuff all night.

John Wall gets into a heated argument with Jerry Stackhouse in the huddle. I wonder if Jerry was telling Wall to get inside to John Henson and stop hogging the ball.

John Wall trying to lead a late game rally. It did not work out for Wall's team this night. They lost.

John Wall gets rejected and the crowd stands up in front of the camera again.

John Wall at the NC Pro Am!!!

Long armed John Henson at the NC Pro Am, but Henson was not the biggest star named "John" at the Pro Am! All videos and pictures were taken live at the Pro Am by this blog's staff and are exclusive to Don't Buy The Hype. You will not see this footage anywhere else.

John Wall(red shorts) came back to his hometown to play at the Pro Am. Wall's team was stacked. He played with former UNC star Jerry Stackhouse and current UNC players P.J. Hairston and John Henson.
John Wall wearing number six.

John Wall knocking down the free throw.

John Wall with his hands on his hips, frustrated by his play. Wall was visibly upset since his team lost that night to an undermanned team.

This is not a great picture of Wall, but this is him leaving. You can see by the expression on his face that he is pouting about the loss.

John Henson watching Tar Heel teammate hit the free throw.

John Henson and his UNC teammate P.J. Hairston warming up at the Pro Am.

John Henson showing off the outside game.

Dunking during warm-ups.

John Henson making it look easy. You can see John Wall in the red shorts. John Wall is a local product from the the Triangle area, who came back to play in the NC Pro Am.

Washington Wizard's star John Wall with the monstrous over the head jam!

UNC's P.J. Hairston dunking in warm ups.

Marquette's Darius Odom-Johnson, dunking. Old man Jerry Stackhouse knocking down the jumper. High flying dunks are no longer a part of Stackhouse's game. John Wall, trying the acrobatic dunk.

John Henson dunking.

Jerry Stackhouse, John Henson, P.J. Hairston and John Wall are all on the same Pro Am team. Yet, the star of night was NC Central's Dominique Sutton(who was the best player on his team and the court this night). Sutton was not intimidated by Wall. Early in the game Sutton got into a jawing match with Wall. Sutton a few weeks earlier got into it with Duke's Austin Rivers and dominated Rivers and his team the entire night. Wall is a legit NBA starter and maybe a star, but Sutton seemed to throw Wall off his game and Sutton led his undermanned team to victory!
